Louie's Wine Dive is a wine bar and restaurant at 16 S. Bemiston Avenue in Clayton. Its Locations menu lists two restaurants, this one and one in Overland Park, Kansas, so Clayton is the only St. Louis-area address. The wine board is the calling card: the restaurant's awards page lists “Best Wine Board” from St. Louis Magazine in 2017.

The six picks below come off the Clayton menus on the venue's own site, checked November 4, 2026. Seasonal dishes rotate, so treat them as a starting point.

1. Harissa Deviled Eggs

The dish in the photo. The menu tops them with fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro and marinated tomato jam, and marks them gluten free. They're $12 at dinner. At happy hour, four of them cost $4, the cheapest way into the kitchen.

2. Squeaky Cheese

Ellsworth cheese curds in a rice flour batter, with serrano dill aioli and marinara. The menu marks it gluten free and vegetarian. It's $11 on the dinner and brunch menus and $8 at happy hour.

3. 4 Pork Gnocchi

The name is a count: prosciutto, Italian sausage, bacon and pork shoulder, with house-made gnocchi in a red wine cream sauce, $23 at dinner. The menu says it can be made gluten free, and any pasta swaps to a gluten-free noodle for $2.

4. Champagne Fish & Chips

Alaskan cod in a champagne and rice flour batter, with Louie's tartar sauce and sea salt fries. It's $20 on both the dinner and lunch menus.

5. Short Rib Hash at brunch

Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. The hash borrows the red wine braised short ribs from dinner and adds parmesan potatoes, green beans, a sunny side egg and hollandaise, $19.

6. Beignets

Powdered sugar and rum butter. They turn up at dinner ($11), at brunch ($10) and at happy hour ($7).

The wine and the happy hour

The wine list is sorted by mood more than by grape, with sections such as “Floral & Fruity” and “Citrus” sitting next to the sparkling pages. Happy hour runs daily from 3 to 6 pm and brings rotating $7 glasses the menu calls “Red, White & Bubbles,” $7 Old Fashioneds and Moscow Mules, and 25% off every wine bottle on the list.

Hours and planning

The Clayton location page lists lunch Monday through Friday, 11 am to 3 pm, and dinner Monday through Thursday, 4 to 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday, 4 to 10 pm. No Sunday dinner is listed, so a Sunday visit means brunch. The page also has a reservation form, and the menu adds a 20% gratuity for groups of seven or more.

For a nightcap, the sister bar Bemiston Cocktail & Social Club is at 14 S. Bemiston Avenue. Its own site lists Wednesday through Saturday, 6 pm to midnight.

Hours, menus and prices change, so check the Clayton page on louieswinedive.com before you go.
