Duke's In Soulard sits at 2001 Menard Street, at Allen, in the heart of Soulard. The venue's own site calls it a family-owned, Cajun-inspired sports bar that has been serving St. Louis since 2015. It signs itself "A Packer Family Restaurant," and Dan Packer is named on the site as part-owner.

The room

Three bars share the building, by the venue's count: Main, Upstairs and Patio. Add the 30-plus TVs it lists and the point of the place is clear on a game night. The site header goes further and says Duke's was voted St. Louis' best bar and best sports bar.

Late in the week the upstairs changes character. The venue bills a DJ dance party there every Friday and Saturday night, with DJ Sinamin named on its page for it.

What's on the menu

The kitchen leans Cajun. The home page points to the crab cakes, the shrimp and crawfish gumbo and the cheesy smash burgers, and the about page credits the smash burgers to Chef Kyle. The full menu is posted only as images (a main menu, a late-night menu and a brunch menu), so check those directly for current dishes and prices rather than trusting any list here.

Brunch is a weekend thing: 10am to 1pm, Saturday and Sunday. The home page names Crab Cakes Benedict and a Breakfast Pizza as the dishes to know.

Hours

As posted on the venue's site when this page went up: Monday through Friday 11am to 1:30am, Saturday 10am to 1:30am, Sunday 10am to midnight. Hours change, so look again before you go.

The game-day shuttle

For a visitor without a car, this may be the most useful thing on the site. Its shuttle runs to Cardinals, Blues, STLFC and Battlehawks home games and to some downtown concerts. The shuttle page ties the free ride to buying food or drink at Duke's first; read that page for the exact terms on the day.

Soulard around it

Duke's is one stop in a neighborhood built for going out. The Soulard guide covers the 1779 market site, the 19th-century brick rowhouses and the Mardi Gras that started as a single house party in 1980.
